Carlos Penaloza, MD

Dr. Carlos G. Penaloza is a highly respected physician, aerospace medicine specialist, and pilot with a distinguished career spanning more than four decades in clinical medicine, aviation medicine, and patient care.

After completing his early education in Bolivia, Dr. Penaloza pursued both aviation and medicine, earning his first pilot license in 1968 and graduating from the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain with a medical degree in 1978. He later relocated to the United States, successfully completed the ECFMG and FLEX examinations, and continued to build an accomplished medical career while maintaining his lifelong passion for aviation.

Dr. Penaloza served as a surgeon at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center from 1989 through 2018, providing exceptional care to thousands of patients throughout southern New Jersey. His commitment to clinical excellence, compassionate patient care, and professional leadership earned him recognition as Physician of the Year in 2010.

In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Penaloza specialized in aerospace medicine and served as a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (AME), performing medical evaluations and certifications for pilots while helping advance aviation safety and health standards.

Throughout his career, Dr. Penaloza has combined medical expertise with a unique understanding of aviation physiology and occupational medicine. His extensive training includes Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), aerospace medicine, and numerous continuing medical education programs focused on patient safety, trauma care, and preventive medicine.
